Pre-approved printers. Wifi and networked options are not allowed to be enabled, but can be available on the printer if disabled.
- Brother laser printers and MFC using the IT stocked toner.
- HP laser printers and MFC using the IT stocked toner.
- Individual printers that exhibits issues not easily corrected should be replaced. IT does not invest extensive effort or resources repairing and rebuilding individual printers.
- Inkjet printers are not supported.
Other devices such as NAS, IoT devices, network printers, tablets, and other personal devices require I.T. approval.
Department-level apps used for more than basic form-level data capturing, send/receive emails, or interface with other systems including university authentication need to include IT at the planning stage through implementation.
Resources that store data that contains P.I.I., requires retention policy, mission-critical data, or contains data that could damage the reputation of V.T. if exposed requires I.T. monitoring and approval. This includes, but is not limited to MS Teams, MS SharePoint, Google Teams, and other cloud-based and file sharing servers. This does not include personal OneDrives or personal Google Drives unless used to share department-level files and services -- which are more appropriately stored on a shared drive. Shares monitored by other approved divisions or university I.T. are excluded from the requirement and should be memorialized in a data plan.
